The provincial government provides financial assistance to over 70,000 BC students annually.? The ministry is responsible for management and delivery of student financial assistance programs totally more than $700 million in combined provincial and federal funding.? Delivered under the StudentAid BC program (SABC), the ministry provides financial assistance to more than 200,000 eligible students and borrowers in B.C, to assist with the cost of their post-secondary education (i.e. student loans, grants, bursaries and scholarships program).

Working with teams responsible for student application, appeals, and verification, the position’s primary accountability is to evaluate, assess, and verify student financial assistance applications and appeals to determine if they should be approved (in whole or in part) or denied.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Diploma in public or business administration, or completion of the Financial Management Certificate Program, or equivalent combination of education and experience in government accounting/funding, policy and/or administrative practices.
  • Two years experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, procedures, and/or policies.
  • Two years of experience in service environment explaining complicated concepts in an easy to understand manner. Preference may be given to applicants with more than two years’ experience.
  • Experience using various computer applications including word processing (intermediate level), excel (basic level) and working with databases.
  • Experience in a financial work environment is preferred.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with financial education and/or training.
